    Forbidden City

    Named a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987, the Forbidden City is China's most famous museum. The complex consist of gardens and many buildings (whose nearly 10,000 rooms contain furniture and works of art), constitutes a priceless testimony to Chinese civilization during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

    For nearly 500 years (1420-1911), Twenty four emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties ruled China from inside the Forbidden City. It has lavishly decorated ceremonial halls and royal palaces that were built to impress the eye.
