    Day by Day Itinerary

  • Day 1 Arrive Xian
  • Arrive in Xian and transfer to the hotel. You will have a free day to explore the city. In ancient times Xian was a major crossroads on the trading routes from eastern China to central Asia, and the beginning point of the famed Silk Road.
  • Day 2 Xian B, L
  • Buffet breakfast at hotel. Full day excursion to world famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses before visiting the Big wild Goose Pagoda and the Grand Mosque. (Tang Dynasty Dance show as an option is highly recommended)
  • Day 3 Xian B, L
  • Visit the Shaanxi Historical Museum, which is one of the best Museums in China and where you can learn a lot about the 5,000 year brilliant history of China. Then bicycle tour along the Ancient City Wall constructed in Tang Dynasty. Then a visit to a local family will be arranged for you
  • Day 4 Xian / Dunhuang B, L
  • Morning flight to Dunhuang.It was an oasis irrigated by the Tang River and began to serve as an important way station on the main trade route between China and Central Asia since the first century B.C. Today¡¯s highlight is Mogao Grottoes, which is one of the best preserved Grottoes in the world and was named as World Heritage sites in 1987.
  • Day 5 Dunhuang/Turpan B, L
  • Sightsee the Crescent Lake and Echoing-Sand Mountain, where you can choose to walk the huge dunes here or go camel riding (optional). Then visit the Great Wall built in the Han Dynasty including Yumen Pass situated in the Gobi Desert¡£Board on the overnight train with soft sleeper to Turpan.
  • Day 6 Turpan B, L
  • Arrive at Turpan in the early morning and visit Suleiman Minaret, the biggest ancient pagoda existing in Xinjiang and the only Islamic ancient pagoda in the country. then tour to the Grape Valley, it is a Grape Kingdom worthy of its name. then followed by the Karez Well and Jiaohe Ruin.
  • Day 7 Turpan/Urumqi B, L
  • Drive to Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang. Visit the Heavenly Lake, which is a very beautiful mountain lake formed in the 4th glacial epoch. The altitude of the lake is up to 2150 meters above the sea level and got its fame as the "jewel in the crown".
  • Day 8 Urumqi/Kashgar B, L
  • Morning flight to Kashar¡£Today`s attractions include Id Kah Mosque, Sunday bazaar, Zhiren Street, Xingjian Minority Handicraft Center. Sunday bazaar attracts locals and merchants from all over Xinjiang and nearby countries such as Pakistan and Kirghizstan.
  • Day 9 Kashgar B, L
  • Whole day to visit the Lake Karakuli. The Lake is 3,600 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Maztagata Mountain. The lake resembles a glittering pearl embedded among the alpine peaks, reflecting the surrounding snow-capped mountains.
  • Day 10 Kashgar/Urumqi and Departure
  • Flight to Urumqi and take your flight back. End of your silk road trip with China Travel Select.
